Advanced microwave technology

The Feltest FiberScanONE uses an innovative and patented microwave sensor, exclusively designed for the demanding conditions in the paper industry. The field of applications is extremely wide, ranging from low-speed board machines up to the fastest newsprint machines. No calibration is needed; just bring the measuring head up to working temperature and start!

As the microwave sensor only measures water, the readings are not influenced by the forming fabric or by filters like Ti02. In contrast to a gamma gauge, the readings of the FiberScanONE are not affected by metal parts close by. This allows measurements at more positions on top and gap formers; helping you to understand the drainage process even better.

FiberScanONE: a safe investment

Additionally to the innovative technology, the Feltest FiberScanONE has many more advantages. To mention a few:

- Increased operator safety

- Easy traveling without formalities, licenses, or bureaucracy

- Firmware upgrades are free of charge

- The hardware can always be upgraded to the most recent version

- Quick and reliable service

Your investment in FiberScan technology is safe for years to come.

The ultra-bright display shows a lot of useful information, like a graphical drainage chart or the cross machine direction profile. The display can be reversed for left-hand or right-hand use by pressing just one button. With every measurement also the quality of the test result is indicated, giving the user important and timely feedback. Improved efficiency comes from details like these.

FAQ's

The FiberScanONE uses advanced microwave technology to make a forming fabric drainage analysis.

The gamma gauge uses a radio-active source to measure the total mass (i.e. forming fabric, water, fibers, and fillers) above the sensor surface. The FiberScanONE uses a microwave sensor to measure the amount of water (and nothing else) above the sensor surface.

Therefore, measuring dewatering in a paper machine is simpler and safer with a FiberScanONE.

The field of applications is extremely wide, ranging from ultra-low grammages on high-speed tissue machines, up to low-speed pulp machines with high grammages, lots of water, and high process water temperatures. The FiberScanONE handles it all.
In both cases: no. In press felts and in the sheet after the press nip, there is too little water left for the FiberScanONE to function, it can only be used in the forming section.
As the microwave sensor only measures water, the readings are not influenced by the forming fabric or by any kind of filler. In contrast to a gamma gauge, the readings of the FiberScanONE are NOT affected by metal parts close by. This allows measurements at more positions on top and gap formers; helping you to understand the drainage process even better.
No, the FiberScanONE uses a completely safe microwave sensor, somewhat comparable to a cell phone. No special permits are required and there are no travel restrictions.
